Happy Mardi Gras!

We all need one good day to celebrate. Some choose New Years, others Christmas or Thanksgiving. I love Mardi Gras! That last day to get all of your inhibitions out of the way and really live it up.

This Christian holiday dates back thousands of years and is celebrated in many countries the day before the religious season of Lent begins. Traditionally, in the days leading up to Lent, merrymakers would binge on all the meat, eggs, milk and cheese that remained in their homes, preparing for several weeks of eating only fish and fasting.  In France, the day before Ash Wednesday came to be known as Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday. Today, streets in many towns are festooned lights and streamers. Costumed folks sing, dance and watch the parade. If your lucky, you may catch multicolored beads and coins.

Today, I am wearing my yellow, purple, and green beads. I decided to let myself enjoy a little pampering and have some chocolate after lunch. But there is still work to be done. So I drew a picture of how I feel.
