Girl Admiring Bug

This was my illustration for the Mar/Apr 2025 edition of the National Science Teaching Association’s journal, Science and Children. It accompanies Heidi Mordhorst’s “If We Stopped” poem in the “The Poetry of Science” column.

I enjoy the little things in life, sometimes tiny to microscopic. After reading Heidi’s poem, I was inspired to create an image of something I did a lot as a kid. I spent many hours in my backyard watching the critters, identifying plants, animals, and insects with my keys, and getting lost in nature.
